Ironically enough, right across from the historic Denton County courthouse on the square, legal actions are underway to change a Denton household name. California based Ruby's Diner has threatened to take Ruby's Diner on the Square to court if they don't change their name. Ruby's owner Ken Willis doesn't seemed too concerned with the situation. "We have a lwayer who sent a letter back to them saying it won't fly here in Texas. So, we'll see what happens next."
Despite the actions, Willis remains very optimistic and says the press is helping business. "We've been awfully busy lately. Everyone says they'll come in no matter what the name is," said Willis. "Hopefully, we won't have to change it. Hopefully, we can keep our name."
Willis has received plenty of support since being told to change the name. He says a dozen of Denton lawyers have volunteered their time to help him out in court. "With that kind of support, I should be okay," said Willis.
