Elections Turn NT Campus Into Sea of Signs, Posters

It's the night before election and the campus lies quiet in the gathering dusk. Suddenly it is eight o' clock and a rush of students descend on the area of campus in front of the UB. Boys shimmy up trees and try to hang banners in the most advantageous position. Girls in Bermuda shorts and toreadors wire posters to trees and place signs along sidewalks. Soon the peaceful campus is covered with a thousand billboards shouting "Vote for me!"

When election time rolls around, candidates vie for the attention of voters by using new gimmicks and signs to put a name across to students. North Texans turn out in heavy numbers in all campus elections. Students enjoy all the ruckus and vote for the candidates of their choice.
