MVC Play Shows Eagle Team Athletic Strength

The athletic program of NT took a forward step with the first full year of play in the Missouri Valley Conference. In 1958, a key date in the development of the athletic program, North Texas was entered on national poll lists.

In basketball the Eagles pitched battle with such basketball giants as Bradley, Oklahoma State College, and St. Louis. The Eagles showed surprising strength in these contests.

In the first full year of MVC play the Eagles showed that their aim was for the top. Old-timers in the conference took notice of the young upstart who began with football and carried through to track, staying at the top or scrapping with the league toppers.

Next year will find the Eagles with a more seasoned group of athletes with an eye on the top rung. . . .
