Student Religious Council Emphasizes Religious Life

A driving force in the religious life of North Texas students is the Student Religious Council which is composed of fifty members.

Each year the council holds an all-college "Meet Your Minister" assembly and a Thanksgiving vesper service. This year at the vesper service, the modern dance group and the Chapel Choir were featured.

The SRC was kept busy this year organizing a campus-wide drive for clothes and books to send to the World University Service, a special meeting to welcome all foreign students on the campus, and delivering student church performance cards to each denomination.

All active participant in Religious Emphasis Week, the council sponsored three REW speakers this year: The Rev. George Burroughs of the First Presbyterian Church in El Paso; Melvin Munn, a businessman from Dallas, and the Rev. Das Kelly Barnett of the Episcopalian Seminary in Austin. Speakers emphasized religion in all of life.
