Leaving the plane, flight-weary cadets are glad to be back on the ground, trudge home to a shower and nap. |
Program Trains Cadets For Air Force CareersBase visitations and orientation flights are examples of the activities involved in the AFROTC training program at North Texas State. The purpose of the program is to select and prepare cadets for an Air Force career through a program of instruction at civilian institutions. They will serve as officers in the regular and reserve components of the Air Force. The flight instruction program provides thirty-five hours of flight training and thirty-five hours of ground school for advanced course seniors. Through this program it is possible to obtain a reserve commission in the Air Force as well as a private pilot's license. The flight instruction program is provided by CAA approved civilian flying school operators. The cadets are encouraged to participate in local aerial flights when Air Force aircraft are available.
