LaBrasca Leads Drake Over NT, 19-6

The air was full of footballs the night Drake University came to town to take on twice defeated North Texas. Led by a nationally ranked quarterback, Drake humbled the Flock, 19-6.

Roger LaBrasca, the nation's number five passer, threw three touchdown strikes, two of which came within fifty-three seconds of each other.

Both teams played on even terms until late in the seconds period when LaBrasca connected with Ron Lind in the end zone. In less than a minute after the ensuing kickoff, Drake recovered a fumble on the Eagle 14-yard line and in five plays scored on another pass from Labrasca to Lind.

Drake's final tally came in the last period when LaBrasca wound up again and bulleted a pass to Jerry Mertens from the Eagle 7-yard line.

North Texas' Vernon Cole intercepte4d a Bulldog pass and returned it fifty-two yards to the Drake 24-yard line, setting the Eagles' only score. Five plays later Cole connected with end Leon King for the tally.
