While the defense is playing, the offense plans their strategy.

Flock Stampeded,

The heartbreak and disgust that the Eagles have experienced in the past began early in the season. In the first game with Texas Western the Eagles were stampeded, 61-15.

Texas Western struck for 21 points in the first 14 minutes of the game, and from that far behind, that early, it's as easy to be beaten by 47 points as 100.

A 500-yard passing performance by the Miners' sophomore quarterback Billy Stevens provided TWC with their best scoring effort since 1949.

But the season was young and Coach Mitchell pointed out that the team could fight back or they could accept that one game as the whole season.

The Eagles bounced back in their second outing and downed the Parsons College Wildcats, 26-7.

After a 7-7 first half, end Henry Holland and guard Berkley Harkless led a defensive charge that held the Wildcats to two first downs and one yard total offense in the second half.
