Spika Wants To Win One, Falls Points Shy

The losing streak became longer and longer for the Eagles with every game, although the Eagles staged late rallies in many games falling only points short of a victory.

The closest of the season was a 94-92 loss to the St. Louis Billikens. The 92 point scored by North Texas was a two year high, topping by two points the 90 the Eagles scored against Bradley in an earlier MVC game.

Coach Spika summed up his feelings about the losing streak the Eagles were in this way: "The heck with playing these good, close ball games. I just wish we could win one or two of them."

The schedule for the Eagles brought tougher and tougher competitors, and the season seemed longer and longer. The only thing the Flock could do was to sit back and watch the other MVC teams battle for the top conference honors in the valley, hoping next year would bring a better season for the Eagles.
