Student registers for classes.
Typical expressions can be seen while students enter the UB for registration.

14,803 register, enrollment gains only 1.5 per cent

Registration in the fall had both a new look and an all-time high of 14,803 students enrolled. But despite the record breaking figures and a 16.16 per cent increase in graduate enrollment (2,469) there was a 16 per cent decrease in freshmen at North Texas, cutting enrollment to only 1.5 per cent overall gain.

The apparent reason for the small increase was due to the opening of several junior colleges near the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In 1967 when the first of nearby junior colleges opened, the rate dropped to 4.8 per cent. From the mid-1950's until 1967 school enrollment rose 11 per cent.

The new look was the change in registration's location. For the first time students scheduled classes in the UB. The change was made to expedite registration and prevent unnecessary moving of furniture.
