Joe Greene: All American

Other honors which came Green's way were invitations to play in the East-West Shrine game December 28th in San Francisco and the Senior Bowl January 11th in Mobile, Alabama. In the latter he was named the game's outstanding defensive player on the South squad, making several unassisted tackles. He was named by the professional scouts as the number ten draft choice but surprised no one when he was drafted the fourth man in the first round. He was tapped by the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.
