Chuck Beatty was an All-Conference safety and a cornerstone of the defensive unit along with Joe Greene. He led the nation in pass defense and interceptions his senior year. Beatty also played with the Pittsburgh Steelers and went on to play with the St. Louis Cardinals and in the World Football League.

In 2003 Chuck Beatty was inducted into the North Texas Hall of Fame.
