Track Athletic Barrier Breaker Lakisha Gentry

In the 2003 Sun Belt Conference competition, Lakisha Gentry placed first in javelin. Tragically, Gentry died in a motorcycle accident last April.

Gentry was the reigning Sun Belt Conference champion in women's javelin and one of only eight North Texas athletes to qualify for the 2003 Midwest Regional. Gentry also tied with Jessica Henderson for the university shot put record in 2003.
