The Tiger Embosser uses a standard Windows printer driver to emboss images. The Tiger Embosser specializes in making raised dot patterns to represent visual images (it allows you to "feel" what a picture looks like). The Tiger Embosser works well with sparse images (e.g., Microsoft clip art). Photographs, however, have too much complexity (because of the number of colors and objects in a picture) and do not produce good results with the Tiger Embosser. If you want some examples of images that work well with the Tiger Embosser, see the examples section.
The Tiger Embosser also has the ability emboss Braille with your images. If you want text with your image, you will have to first translate your text to Braille using the ViewPlus Translator (click here to learn how to translate text to Braille). Please note the following: if you have a text only document that you want to translate to Braille, we suggest you use the 4X4 Pro (use the Tiger Embosser only when you have images or images that contain Braille).
The directions provided in this web page will describe how to emboss your documents. First, you will learn how to create a PRN file. Creating a PRN file allows you to view what the embossed version of your document will look like before you actually send the job to the Tiger Embosser (this will save paper, since you emboss only the document that you know is correct). After you learn how to create a PRN file we will show you how to use the Tiger Viewer to view and emboss your document. Next, we will describe how you remove your document from the Tiger Embosser. In the last section, we provide examples that you can use to create your first embossed image.
The list below summarizes the contents of this page and provides links for you to skip to the different sections:

After you create the PRN file, you can view it using the Tiger Viewer. To start the Tiger Viewer, double click on your PRN file (click here to review how to create a PRN file). To open the Tiger Viewer manually, click Start > Accessibility > Viewplus > Tiger Viewer. Use the following instructions to emboss your document:
The Tiger Embosser will now create a document with a raised dot pattern to represent your image and Braille for any text you have translated.
After the Tiger Embosser finishes, follow the following instructions to remove your document:
If you have further questions, ask a consultant, who will be happy to help you.
In this section you will find examples of images from the ViewPlus website (the makers of the Tiger Embosser). Follow the directions given above with one of the files provided in this section to learn how to use the Tiger Embosser.
