Welcome to IELI

The Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) was established in 1977 to help students improve their English proficiency for academic and professional purposes. It is among the nation's largest university affiliated ESL program in the U.S. Students like IELI because of the following features:

Location

• on the campus of the University of North Texas in the safe, friendly community of Denton, Texas, near Dallas and the DFW International Airport;

Costs

• reasonable living costs and reasonably priced tuition, which includes ALL fees, books, health insurance, and student services available through the university;

Classes

• small classes; beginning (pre-1) to advanced levels (level 6), 20-25 hours of class weekly; 8 week terms;

Teachers

• professional, experienced teachers;

Multimedia computer lab

• language lab with the most advanced interactive language software; free internet access; word processing, computer lab classes where students create class www pages.

No TOEFL

• No TOEFL is required for students who finish IELI and go to UNT;

Excellent student services, Orientation

• fast I-20 processing; free pick up at the airport; full-time advisors to help students with housing on or off campus; orientation to IELI, UNT, and Denton; specialized services for sponsored students;

Special programs

• for TOEFL, GMAT, and GRE preparation; a special Graduate Preparation Course, which enables graduate students to waive the GRE verbal requirements; teacher training; special courses custom designed for groups of students (for example, Acculturation to the U.S. University);

Student Activities

• field trips, museums, class adventures outside the classroom, on the UNT campus and in the Dallas-Ft. Worth-Denton area;
