Sponsored Scholarships for Undergraduate Students
General Academic
Scholarships
Purpose:
Annual scholarship program to support
undergraduate students attending the University
of North Texas.
Field of
Study: Open to all
fields.
Eligibility:
Recipients of most General Academic Scholarships
awarded by the University Scholarship Committee
must enroll for and successfully complete at
least twelve undergraduate or nine graduate
semester hours of coursework at UNT during each
long semester (Fall and Spring) they are on a
scholarship. Students who are not U.S.
citizens are eligible for all scholarships
unless otherwise indicated. Generally
speaking, international students must have
completed at least one semester of college
course work in the U.S. before they can be
considered for General Academic Scholarships.
Award:
Most General Academic Scholarship awards range
from $200 - $1000. Contingent on available
funding, some scholarships may or may not be
awarded during each academic year.

Deadline:
There is no deadline, to ensure full
consideration of your scholarship application
apply by December 15th
(approximately 9 months prior to your intended
start date.)
Application:
Submitting a General Academic Scholarship
application will automatically place a student
into the competition for a variety of
scholarships for which the student is eligible.
Board of Regents
Scholarships
Purpose:
To support outstanding undergraduate students.
Field of
Study: Any academic
program offered by UNT.
Eligibility:
These scholarships are for outstanding entering
freshmen who rank in the top 10% of their high
school graduating class AND who
score at least a 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the
ACT. Please note that UNT does not require
the SAT or the ACT tests of international
applicants. However, in order to be considered
for the Board of Regents Scholarship SAT or the
ACT tests must be taken.
Award:
The amount and duration of awards vary by
student based on the cost of attendance and the
length of the program as well as other
scholarships or grants received. The maximum
available per student is $30,000 per year.
Deadline: February 1,
2005.
Application:
No application is necessary. All
eligible students are identified through their
completed Admissions file. Please ensure all
transcripts and test scores are updated in
Admissions as soon as possible.
Priority
consideration will be given to the earliest
applications due to limited funding.
These scholarships are renewable for up to four
years or until the student completes his or her
undergraduate degree. To continue receiving
this scholarship each year, students must meet
the following renewal criteria: maintain a
minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 AND enroll
in and successfully complete at least twelve
semester hours of coursework at the University
of North Texas during each long semester (Fall
and Spring) they are on the scholarship.
Board of Regents Excellence:
This scholarship is awarded to students who have
at least a 1400 on the SAT or 32 on the ACT. The
award amount is $4000 per year.
Board of Regents: This scholarship is awarded to students who have
SAT scores from 1300-1390 or ACT scores from
29-31. The award amount is $2500 per year.
Board of Regents Chancellor's:
This scholarship is awarded to students who have
SAT scores from 1250-1290 or ACT 28. The award
amount is $1500 per year.
Board of Regents President's:
This scholarship is awarded to students who have
SAT scores from 1200-1250 or ACT 27. The award
amount is $1000 per year.
Texas Transfer
Scholarships
Purpose:
Scholarship program to support transferring
students from any Texas community college
to UNT
Field of
Study: Any academic
program offered by UNT
Eligibility:
The University awards scholarships to students
who have completed 45
hours in a Texas Junior College, Texas Community
College, or Texas
University and maintain a 3.5 GPA .
Award:
$1000. There are a limited number
of scholarships and they are awarded on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Deadline: No set
deadline, but scholarships are awarded on a
first-come, first-served basis. Apply no later
than November for Fall admissions.
Application:
No application is necessary. All eligible
students are identified through their completed
Admissions file. Please ensure all transcripts
are updated in Admissions as soon as possible.
