U.S. Postal Service Experiments With E-mai

From EDUPAGE (12/22/94) an electronic summary of news items on information technology.

The U.S. Postal Service is experimenting with a system that would allow it to optically scan the data from business reply cards and send it electronically to mail-order and subscription houses. The service would make reply cards more competitive with 800 numbers, which are costly to maintain. The Postal Service plans to offer the new service in the second half of 1995 (Wall Street Journal 122/22/94).
