Exemptions
- Students are exempt from individual areas of testing if any one of the following is met:
*SAT Composite = Critical Reading plus MathREADING ACT: Composite 23 and English 19
SAT: Composite 1070* and Critical Reading/Verbal 500
TAKS: ELA 2200 & Writing Essay score 3MATH ACT: Composite 23 and Math 19
SAT: Composite 1070* and Math 500
TAKS: Math 2200WRITING ACT: Composite 23 and English 19
SAT: Composite 1070* and Critical Reading/Verbal 500
TAKS: ELA 2200 & Writing Essay score 3
ACT and SAT scores are valid for a period of five (5) years from date taken.
TAKS test scores are valid for a period of three (3) years from the date taken.
- A student who has graduated with an associate or baccalaureate degree from an institution of higher education.
- A student who transferes from a private or out-of-state institution of higher education and who hassatisfactorily completed college-level course work as determined by UNT.
- A student who has previously attended another Texas public institution of higher education and has been determined to have met readiness standards by that instituion.
- A student who is serving on active duty as a member of the armed forces of the United States, the Texas National Guard, or as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States and has been serving for at least three years preceding enrollment.
- A student who on or after August 1, 1990, was honorably discharged, retired, or released from active duty as a member of the armed forces of the United States or the Texas National Guard or service as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States.
If you are exempt under these guidelines, please download the TSI Exemption Form and send it in to Academic Readiness via mail or fax, along with any necessary documentation.
Students can check their own TSI status by logging into the MyUNT system and going to their Student Center page. In the bottom right corner of the Student Center is a TSI link. Click the TSI link to view your TSI status.
