In 2008, UNT picked up incredible speed in its journey as a student-centered public research university. The University pledged to invest at least $25 million in collaborative research clusters, taking advantage of faculty researchers’ standout work to advance the medical field, develop new technologies, improve environmental sustainability and enhance quality of life. Much of this work is done at UNT’s nearly 290-acre Discovery Park, where innovation meets possibility. A hub of research, Discovery Park nurtures students’ scientific curiosity while offering an environment in which faculty can imagine and create solutions.
While UNT is growing as a research university and making significant strides, the University continues to nurture its core areas of excellence in music, education, social sciences, business, the arts and humanities. UNT continually produces highly qualified graduates in all of its 252 degree programs.
This rich academic environment is complemented by an equally strong commitment to ensuring student success and providing both undergraduate and graduate students with hands-on experience. UNT annually graduates about 7,000 students, including more than 200 new doctoral degree holders, committed to lifelong learning and discovery.
The University creates opportunities for research, scholarship and creativity for students and faculty through a mix of state and federal funding, donor gifts and wise use of its resources.
