Former undergraduate student Andrew Jones receives courage award from Lambda Legal
Andrew Jones was the 2006 Lambda Legal Courage Award
Recipient. Lambda
Legal is a national organization that advocates the full recognition of
civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and
those with HIV. The Courage Award is presented annually to an individual
or organization in recognition of outstanding courage in the face of
uncertainty, discrimination, and hostility. Andrew has spoken out on
issues affecting transgender youth. He founded a gender identity group at
Youth First Texas and Transcending Gender Denton. Andrew will begin
classes in August at Gallaudet University studying for a Master of Arts in
Deaf Cultural Studies.
