Awards and Achievements

Ted K. Miller Achievement of Excellence in Assessment Award

The Office of Planning and Assessment assists the Vice President for Student Development and other Student Development administrators and professionals in strategic and long-range planning and conducting assessment for the enhancement of Student Development and University services, programs, and operations.

Assessment activities are an integral component of the mission of the Office of Planning and Assessment for Student Development. We assist other departments in Student Development to include continuous assessment as part of their planning and budgeting process. Departments work together through the Division Assessment Team to develop, critique and share their various assessment activities.

This office also participates in conducting research on students including the national CIRP Freshman and Your First College Year Surveys. Planning and Assessment collaborates with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and other UNT departments on research projects. In addition, we collaborate with researchers from other institutions by completing surveys for their research projects on student affairs issues, staff and services to students.

The net impact of our work is to continually improve services to and understand the needs of students at the University of North Texas. Our efforts are instrumental in translating theory into practice and ensuring the resources, time and talents of the Division of Student Development are being utilized in the most professional, efficient and high-quality manner possible.
