Studio art programs
UNT's comprehensive studio art program boasts professionally active faculty members who show their work nationally and internationally. These cutting-edge artists/educators are fully committed to student success.
You will enjoy a supportive environment of artists participating in a free exchange of ideas, learning from each other and from fellow artists with concentrations in other mediums including:

The curriculum offers a focused path toward professional achievement, with an extensive visiting artist program, an active gallery and a rich research environment. The Department of Design encompasses the professional disciplines of communication design, fashion design and interior design, with BFA and MFA programs for each, plus an MA in Design. You will learn to meet challenges and create new solutions for a rapidly changing world, taught by award-winning faculty members with real-world experience.
Our undergraduate programs stress ideation and collaboration, teaching you to design with your hands and your brain.
Our graduate programs, open to design professionals with several years of experience, focus on creating new knowledge related to your area of interest.
The UNT design community is filled with exceptional artists and will support the development of your expertise. The Communication Design program won the majority of prizes in the national student shows sponsored by The Dallas Society of Visual Communications from 2008 to 2011.
Art education and art history programs
At UNT, you'll learn from nationally ranked faculty members with a range of specializations in art history, art education and art museum education. They have distinguished themselves through quality teaching and research, making scholarly presentations on six continents and aggressively publishing in the highest national and international forums.
UNT produces nearly half of the university-certified art educators in Texas. We offer Graduate Academic Certificates in Art Museum Education and Arts Leadership, and our PhD in Art Education is the only program of its kind in the state.
As a student here, you will examine global artistic production, relevant technologies, critical methods, learning theories and innovative approaches. Master's degree students regularly present at national and international conferences – a rarity that distinguishes UNT.
You will also benefit from UNT's unique relationships with area art museums and have the opportunity to study in England, France, India, Spain and other countries.
