Ten Digit Dialing Comes to the MetroplexBy Ryan Hickey, Helpdesk Assistant ManagerIt has come to our attention that, beginning December 3, residents of Dallas and surrounding areas (214 and 972 area codes) will be required to dial all ten digits (area code+phone number) when placing calls within the Metroplex. This will affect our users who currently dial into our systems from the Dallas area. If your area code is either 214 or 972 and you use UNT-supported dial-up software, you will need to change the instructions in the dialer portion of that software. We have documented how to configure 10-digit dialing for all UNT-supported dial-up software on all UNT-supported OS's. A one-page handout called "10-digit Dialing Instructions for Dallas Area (214/972) Residents" is available from the Computing Center Helpdesk area in ISB 119. It can also be found on the Web at: http://www.unt.edu/helpdesk/ras/10-digit-dialing.htm n |
