Awards, Recognition, Publications

  • Ryan Hickey, UNIX Systems Administrator, graduated on May 13 with a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance, and a minor in Music Theory. His senior recital was on April 11 at 8 pm in the Recital Hall where he performed works by Telemann, Mozart, Dring, and Saint-Saens assisted by Nikita Fitenko, piano; Hye-Jean Choi, harpsichord; Randy George, bassoon; Shelli Mathews, violin; Eric Jones, viola; and Gudrun Raschen, cello. The recital was recorded and mastered in 24-bit high resolution by Dave Lane Productions, Lewisville, TX. (CD's are available for $8 :) Ryan plans to continue taking oboe lessons and CSCI courses until he decides what he wants to do with the rest of his life.
  • Dr. Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner, Student Computing Services Manager, has been awarded an ASCAP Composers Fellowship for the year 2000. Her book, Crossing the Line: Women Composers and Music Technology in the United States has been accepted for publication by Ashgate Press, London with a contract for two additional volumes in the book series.
