We celebrate the greatness of our past and chart a future of excellence

UNT’s history has included many milestones — from its 1890 founding as a teacher's training school and its transition from college to university to its recognition as an emerging research university.

On Feb. 13, UNT took another monumental step when it unveiled the four bold goals of the University of North Texas Strategic Plan 2012-17 and a new iconic theme line: “A green light to greatness.” The plan and the theme line will help the university become a recognized national leader in education, research and scholarship, student support and community engagement.

An event, Four Bold Goals, One Great University: UNT in a Whole New Light, which was held in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, dramatically revealed the new plan and included the first public viewing of UNT's new iconic theme line and visual elements. The slogan and visuals embody UNT’s aspirations to be among America’s great public research universities and its promise to help students achieve success.
