User Evaluation in the Retrieval of Digital Art Images
The Bryant Art Images

Preface
The Bryant Art Images are part of a special collection, the Bryant West Indies Collection, housed in the Special Collections Department at the Main Library, University of Central Florida.  It is a scholarly private collection on deposit to the library by the William J. Bryant Foundation.  The collection, which has a special focus on Haitian art, contains many items from the West Indies and Caribbean area, including Florida, which pertain to the history, geography, economic and social life of the area.

In the Fall of 1993, the entire collection of paintings (66) was digitized for study by Sam Hastings for an initial investigation of intellectual access to art images.

The current project continues that study and investigates user evaluation of image retrieval on the Web.
