How do I register for a national test?

  1. Pick up a test registration bulletin at a local high school or community college or from the UNT Testing Center.
  2. Students can register over the Internet or the phone at each center's official website. See National Tests for more details.

How can I take a correspondence proctored exam?

  1. First, determine if the exam is to be administered via the internet, in our Computer-Based Testing Office, located in the Gateway Bldg., Room 140 or by paper-pencil, in the Student Counseling Office, located in Chestnut Hall, Room 311.
  2. Contact the appropriate office once you have determined how the exam is to be proctored, computer-based or paper-pencil, for mailing instructions or to obtain the appropriate email address for sending the exams.
  3. Request a tentative testing date/time with the testing administrator.
  4. Fees are $25 for computer-based exams and $20 for paper-pencil exams.
  5. Contact your college/university and provide them with the contact information along with the requested testing date/time. Your college/university will then send the exam, either by email or regular mail, to the appropriate testing office.
  6. Contact that office to see if the exam has arrived and firm-up your date/time before showing up for the exam in case the exam wasn't received.

What is an Institutional SAT (ISAT) test? How is it different from the national SAT?

An ISAT is an SAT test given at UNT which can only be used at UNT. This test is given to new incoming students who do not have enough time to register for a national SAT test. The major differences are that the ISAT can only be taken ONCE in a life-time and does not currently require you to write an essay. The cost if $40 for pre-registration and $45 for late registration.

What is the CLEP Exam?

CLEP is the College-Level Examination Program for placing out of designated freshman and sophomore level classes. UNT is an open test center meaning, you don't have to be a UNT student to take a CLEP exam. We do not require you to have an appointment but request that you show up on any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday prior to 3:00pm with your $70 check/money order/credit card payment, along with the $20 administration fee payable in CASH only. When are the QTHEA's administered?

The dates for the QTHEA's are set around orientation schedules for each semester. Refer to the QTHEA testing dates/times section for further information and cost.

What are the differences between the Statewide (regular) THEA and the Quick THEA?

There is NO difference between the Statewide THEA and the QTHEA. However, there is no pre-registration for the QTHEA.
