Introduction The Department of Marketing offers professional education programs to prepare individuals for the pursuit of marketing careers with manufacturers, retail and wholesale middlemen, profit and nonprofit service organizations, governmental agencies and academic institutions. Programs of Study The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the following areas: -Bachelor of Business Administration with a professional field in marketing; -Master of Business Administration, and -Doctor of Philosophy, both with a major in marketing; and -a concentration under the professional field in marketing at the undergraduate level in fashion marketing. Bachelor of Business Administration The department offers the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the professional field listed below. General requirements for the BBA are listed in the "General University Requirements" and the "University Core Requirements" in the Academics section and under "Bachelor of Business Administration" in the College of Business Administration section. Professional Field in Marketing, 19 Hours The following courses are required for the professional field in marketing. A grade of C or above must be earned in each professional field and supporting course completed in residence or transferred to UNT. -MKTG 4280, International Marketing -MKTG 4700, Marketing Research (4 hours) -MKTG 4880, Marketing Management -MKTG 4890, Problems in Marketing Plus 6 hours chosen from any other 3000- or 4000-level marketing course (except MKTG 4800, Internship, or MKTG 4900, Special Problems) -MKTG 3660, Advertising Management -MKTG 4010, Personal Selling -MKTG 4040, Advertising Media and Marketing Strategy -MKTG 4120, Consumer Behavior -MKTG 4140, Credit Management -MKTG 4260, Physical Distribution -MKTG 4520, Channels of Distribution -MKTG 4600, Retailing -MKTG 4610, Industrial Marketing -MKTG 4650, Sales Management -MKTG 4660, Retail Buying -MKTG 4750, Professional Services Marketing Approved Supporting Courses, 12 Hours Nine hours of any 3000- or 4000-level marketing courses plus 3 hours chosen from any 3000- or 4000-level marketing or business course. A non- business or below 3000 level course may be used for the additional 3 hours if approved in advance by the department. A grade of C or better must be earned in each professional field and supporting course completed in residence or transferred to UNT. The marketing professional field can be varied to meet the needs of students seeking specialized training toward career objectives in marketing management, sales and industrial marketing management, and retail management. Concentration in Fashion Marketing, 19 Hours The following courses are required for the professional field in marketing with a concentration in fashion marketing. -MKTG 4120, Consumer Behavior -MKTG 4280, International Marketing -MKTG 4600, Retailing -MKTG 4700, Marketing Research (4 hours) -MKTG 4880, Marketing Management -MKTG 4890, Problems in Marketing Approved Supporting Courses, 12 Hours -GNET 3210, Apparel Manufacturing Process I Plus 3 hours from: -MKTG 3510, Merchandising Problems -MKTG 4660, Retail Buying Plus 3 hours from: -MKTG 4260, Physical Distribution -MKTG 4650, Sales Management In addition to the 9 hours of supporting courses above, a 240-hour internship (3 credit hours) is required of all students with a fashion marketing concentration. A total of 130 hours is required for completion of the program. A grade of C or above must be earned in each professional field and supporting course completed in residence or transferred to UNT. Graduate Degrees The department offers degree programs leading to the Master of Business Administration with a major in marketing and the Doctor of Philosophy with a major in marketing.
