Chemistry

Master of Science with a major in chemistry and concentrations in analytical, industrial, inorganic, organic or physical chemistry, or natural philosophy

Doctor of Philosophy with a major in chemistry and concentrations in analytical, inorganic, organic or physical chemistry.

Communication Studies

The department offers graduate programs leading to the following degrees:

Master of Arts

Master of Science, both with a major in communication studies

Computer Sciences

The Department of Computer Sciences offers graduate programs leading to the following degrees:

Master of Science

Doctor of Philosophy, both with a major in computer science

Dance and Theatre Arts

The department offers graduate programs leading to the following degrees:

Master of Arts

Master of Science

both with a major in theatre arts.

The faculty also participates in the master's degree program with a major in interdisciplinary studies. Students interested in careers in dance should consider this degree.

Economics

The department offers degrees in the following programs:

Master of Arts with a major in economics

Master of Science programs, both directed toward students who plan to obtain a PhD in economics

Master of Science degree in economic research is directed toward students who plan careers in financial institutions, public utilities, large manufacturing organizations and government agencies

Master of Science degree in labor and industrial relations that provides a unique interdisciplinary approach for students interested in labor-related careers in private industry, labor or governmental organizations.

Engineering Technology

The program of study for the Master of Science with a major in engineering technology is a comprehensive program, yet provides for a degree of specialization with the proper selection of courses in the major and support fields.

Master of Arts with a major in English and a concentration in English as a second language

Foreign Languages and Literatures

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers graduate programs in the following areas

Master of Arts with majors in French and Spanish

Minor work in French, German, Latin and Spanish

Geography

The Master of Science degree with a major in applied geography has thesis and non-thesis options both requiring a total of 36 semester credit hours

History

The Department of History offers graduate programs leading to the following degrees:

Master of Arts

Master of Science, both with a major in history, and concentrations in United States history and modern European history

Master of Arts with a major in applied history

Master of Arts with a major in world history, which is primarily for high school teachers

Doctor of Philosophy with a major in history and concentrations in United States history and modern European history

The Department of History and the School of Library and Information Sciences also offer joint master's degrees:

Master of Science in history with an emphasis in applied history

Master of Science in library science

The Doctor of Philosophy degree is offered with a major in history and concentrations in United States and modern European history. The minimum program for the PhD in history consists of 90 semester hours beyond the bachelor's or 60 hours beyond the master's degree.
