A major in theatre arts requires 45 semester hours: 6 hours of THEA 1095 or 4095 (minimum of 3 hours of 4095); 1043, 1045, 1046, 2380, 3150, 3340, 4250, 4300 and 4350, and after consultation with an adviser from the theatre arts faculty, 12 hours (at least 9 advanced) from the following: THEA 2051, 2110, 2351, 2700, 3100, 3140, 3160, 3170, 3180, 3190, 3270, 3280, 3400, 4000, 4110, 4310, 4140, 4240, 4290, 4460.
Students majoring in theatre arts must enroll in THEA 3910 or THEA 4500 each semester the student performs in public productions sponsored or approved by the department.
A minimum grade of C is required for all theatre arts courses.
A written departmental comprehensive examination is required after a student completes 90 hours of college-level courses or 39 hours of courses in theatre arts.
An artistic presentation is required during one or more long semesters after a student has completed 90 hours of college level courses or 36 hours of theatre arts courses. The presentation may consist of:
1. a solo duet or acting performance of not less than 30 or more than 60 minutes in length;
2. an independent directing project; or
3. a major design project.
A minimum grade of B is required for the comprehensive examination and the artistic presentation.
Transfer work to be substituted for required theatre arts courses must be approved by a student's faculty adviser during the degree plan process.
DRED (Traffic Safety) courses may not be used to satisfy any portion of a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences.
