Dr. Howard A. Rubin is a tenured Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Hunter College of the City University of New York, the CEO of Rubin Systems Inc., a META Group Research Fellow, a Faculty Affiliate of Cap Gemini, and a former Nolan Norton Research Fellow.
In 1997, Industry Week named Dr. Rubin one of the top 50 “R&D Stars to Watch . . . an individual whose achievements are shaping the future of our industrial culture and America’s technology policy” as a result of his bringing the IT workforce shortage to national attention. In 1999, Dr. Rubin organized a Year 2000 "Peace Corps" called the Year 2000 Expert Corps (YESCorps) under the auspices of the UN and the World Bank to support the needs of 180 Year 2000 national coordinators. He has recently be appointed to the Vice President’s e-commerce Private Sector Working Group on Digital Divide issues.
Dr. Rubin possesses a Ph.D. from the City University of New York, which was awarded in the areas of Biology (Ecology/Oceanography) and Computer Science. Dr. Rubin is internationally recognized for his work academically and commercially as an author, researcher, talented speaker, and consultant in the areas of techno-business strategy, global software economics, the workforce of the future, the business value of technology, and performance measurement/benchmarking.
Through his product experience and research, Dr. Rubin has collected data and organized it into what may well be the world’s largest information technology (IT) database — drawing on data gathered through a network of more than 15,000 professionals in about 6,000 companies covering 50 countries.
Today, Dr. Rubin is focusing his personal research in the areas the dynamics of competitive e-strategy, mapping the e-business space, and the development of Network Age economic indicators. His international work in global technology economics, the Year 2000 issue, and the IT workforce shortage has been the subject of briefing documents provided to President Clinton and Vice President Gore. |
