Dr. Tiffiney Barfield-Cottledge, Ph.D.
Biographical Sketch
Tiffiney Cottledge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of North Texas Dallas Campus. She received a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice, and a M.A. and Ph.D. from Prairie View A&M University. Dr. Cottledge has worked in various positions in the criminal justice field such as a state parole officer, child support officer, and researcher. Dr. Cottledge has over twelve years experience as a counselor and has worked as the Director of Institutional Research. In 2003 Dr. Cottledge worked with the ADAM project researching drug use and abuse among recently arrested males in Harris County Texas.
Dr. Cottledge is published in the Criminal Justice Review and has an upcoming article in the Encyclopedia of Race and Crime. Dr. Cottledge has presented various papers at regional and national conferences. Her current research interests involve juvenile justice and delinquency, female gangs and delinquency, criminological theory, juvenile sex offenders, drug use and abuse, and racial conflict.
Dr. Cottledge currently serves on the community and public health curriculum development committee at the UNT Dallas Campus and has served on faculty search committees. Dr. Cottledge regularly teaches Judicial and Legal Issues, Offender Behavior, Criminology, and Juvenile Delinquency at the undergraduate level. In addition, Dr. Cottledge has taught such courses as Statistics for Criminal Justice, Statistics for the Social Sciences, Research Methods, Domestic and International Terrorism, Ethics, Principles of Criminal Justice, Criminal Investigations, and Legal Aspects. At the graduate level, Dr. Cottledge has taught the Juvenile Delinquency course.
