Minutes from November 17, 2000 Meeting
Minutes from the November 17, 2000 meeting were approved with changes.

Subcommittee Reports
Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner reported that the Student Computing Committee had not met.

Update on WAN Upgrade
Mike Maner reported that problems with the data communications infrastructure upgrade still exist.  Problems with facility preparations in Richardson as well as negotiations between vendors continue to cause delays.  The new installation date is January 9, 2001.  The Computing Center will send a memo to the entire campus
addressing the status of the upgrade.

New Business
Brendan Carroll asked if it was necessary to report port scans to the UNT's Security Coordinator.  At this time, only incidents and unusual activities should be reported.

Maurice Leatherbury reported that the DCSMT meeting location will be moved to ISB 201.

Gary Mathews reported that lab machine upgrades are in progress.

Bruce Pollock reported that ABN will be upgrading to Netware 5.1 this weekend.

Mike Hatch reported that COBA will be moving to Netware 5.1 in January.

Pam Hight reported several hacking incidents.  Pam also reported that a security meeting will be held with Data Communications and Campus Wide Network next week.

Jason Myre reported that virus detection reports for individual post offices will be mailed out.  At least 900 viruses have been detected to-date. 

Daren Dugan reported that Netware 5.1 upgrades will continue.

Jim Curry reported that "all is ok" in Microcomputer Maintenance and Classroom Support Services.

Tim Christian reported problems with two servers due to heavy utilization.  These problems are still being worked out.

David Wright reported that the College of Education is rolling out P-III 700's.   David also reported that there have been some problems moving to Netware 5.1.

Maurice reported that the Computing Center will be upgrade all computers below P-II 400. 

Wil Clark reported that there is low internet bandwidth usage at the UNT System Center at Dallas.
