Minutes from June 15, July 6, and  July 20, 2001 meetings were approved with changes.

Subcommittee Reports

Student Computing Committee
Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner announced that new Eagle Mail bookmarks were available for distribution.   

Mac OS X Support
Brendan Carroll and Philip Baczewski reported that a new release of Mac OS X is due in the fall.  A review of the product is available in the last issue of Benchmarks.

Multicasting
CR Chevli created and distributed a handout titled "Multicast Ghost Application Support on UNTNET". UNTNET is now enabled for multicast support in all areas of campus that have "new" hardware.  

Palm Device Support Across Campus
Maurice Leatherbury asked what type of support is given for Palm devices.  Brendan Carroll responded that six palm devices are supported in his area via desktop and each workstation has to be configured.  He's been looking at Puma technologies and Pendragon software.  The combined use of both products may meet support needs.

New Business
Mike Hatch reported that he's getting ready for fall.

Paul Hons reported that Windows 2000 will be added to classrooms.

Brendan Carroll reported problems with Windows 2000 running Service Pack 2.

Bruce Pollock is planning for the move into the Gateway Center in the fall.

Jim Byford is working on a Windows 2000 rollout.

Bill Buntain reported that approval to interconnect the fiber network with the Denton Independent School District has been made and that he's working with Verizon to pay for underground conduit (in order to connect the MARC building to the network).

Wil Clark reported that he's working on an IIS production server and that he's working on a migration for internet connection to the GSC.

Pam Hight asked who the contact person was for finding IP ranges.  Bill Buntain will check with Blair Copeland.

Charlotte Russell reported 10-15 infections of Code Red and over 3000 infections of SIRCAM.

Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner reported that she's working on the Smartforce setup.  Some CD are available.

Mike Wright reported that he's waiting for an extension on the Microsoft agreement to be approved by the UNT attorneys office.

Jim Curry reported a rollout of Windows 2000 machines and that he's getting ready for fall.

Tim Christian reported that he's trying to find out when the power will be shut off in the GAB.  Maurice will ask Steve Minnis.  Tim also reported that he's working of lots of projects.

Travis Brown reported that over 1000 responses for preferred EUID addresses have been received.

The meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
