Subcommittee Reports
Office XP Study Committee
Mike Williams reported that the Office XP Study Committee is testing installs and will eventually test file compatibility. (Mike Hatch reported that he is sending Chris Stoermer to XP training.)
EIS Vendor Presentations
Maurice reported EIS vendor presentations took place this week. Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner commented that the presentations varied from similar presentation that she had attended at SMU (at SMU they saw the actual software in production). See John Hooper if you would like to attend future vendor presentations. You can also visit the EIS homepage for more information (http://www.unt.edu/eis/EIS_Homepage.htm).
New Business
Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner reported that the new statistics server now has power and data. She will be installing Netware 5 and ZenWorks 3 and the server will be called Gauss. ACS server software will be moved to a different location, but an announcement will be made when that occurs. Direct comments about this experimental server to Elizabeth.
Jason Myre requests that you contact him or any member of the NDS team if you experience NLS problems. Jason also announced that more spaces are available in the Console1 class. Those who have sent e-mail are registered for the class.
Mike Williams reported that McAfee 4.5.1 is out. This version allows you to run updates on extensions. You no longer have to push out superdat files.
Charlotte Russell requested that ideas about the handbook or policy be submitted to her or Maurice.
Richard Anderson reported that he is continuing with the scan. He will contact network managers whose areas have not been scanned.
Pamiela Hight reported that servers which were purchased using TIF grant funds have arrived. In order to keep the server room cool, the Library will be installing a second air conditioning unit.
Mike Maner reported air conditioning problems in a telecom closet (heat was blowing into the room at full blast.)
Wil Clark reported that the City of Dallas purchased land that will be donated to the System Center.
Tim Christian reported that the AEMS system will be replaced. Current air conditioning indicators in GAB will be replaced with with remote sensing equipment.
