Minutes from March 3, 2006, were were amended to include time ended (11:15), next meeting date, and Matt Kernan's job change to Computer Sciences and then approved as amended.


Bahram Paiani, CITC, reported there will be a change to the mailhost configuration to move to the new F5 load balancer. He plans to make the move on Monday, April 10, and will send a message to the NetMan mailing list in regard to the move status.


Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner, CITC, reported that information on changes on Skillport online course offerings will be published in next month's Benchmarks. CBT web site can be reached from www.unt.edu/cbt.


Ed Lydon, sales manager, and Stan Kaminski, sales engineer, with Oki Data Americas, Inc. gave a presentation on Oki Data color printers. One feature of the Oki Data color printers is the use of LED instead of laser technology making it possible to provide a 5 year warranty on the printer head. The Oki Data Color printers are also capable of printing banners up to 12 inches wide by 48 inches long. If anyone is interested in additional information, they can contact the DCSMT Chair.


No old business was discussed.


Uwe Rossbach (College of Engineering) would like the question of the location of DCSMT's meetings to alternate between ISB 201 and RP on the next agenda. Paul Hons suggested that a UNT Shuttle may be able to take members and guests from main campus to RP and back.

Uwe Rossbach (College of Engineering) brought up the question of how critical service updates are scheduled. It was pointed out that the Registrar's Office sets updates around semester calendars and contacts CITC to execute the implementation. A Change Management working group headed by Uwe Rossbach and including Tim Christian, Don McClure and Chris Stoermer was formed by Dr. Baczewski and asked to highlight issues of change in regard to academic IT services management in a document to be reported to DCSMT at a future meeting.


Chris Strauss would like to invite some members to help with a survey to be used in his dissertation.

James Strawn reported that the General Access Lab committee was examining issues related to the planned use of UNT ID cards as Wells Fargo credit cards.

Gary Matthews said UNT libraries completed their accreditation visit from the ALA (American Library Association).

Chris Stoermer reported that COBA is testing a web-based system for the remote control of PCs with the COBA desktop OS image. The new system should help COBA instructors be able access a familiar OS image from classroom computers.

Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner reported on the status of adoption of Magic for adaptive screen reading software. This would replace Zoomtext as the recommended screen reader if adopted.

Tim Christian reported that CAS is evaluating a Dell desktop Computers.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for April 21,2006.
