APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes from April 7, 2006, were approved as written.

FUTURE DCSMT MEETING LOCATION(S)

Future DCSMT Meeting Location(s) were discussed. Most of the group were not in favor of alernating locations between the north and south campuses. Dr. Baczewski suggested that DCSMT could coordinate a one-time meeting with a possible CITC Open House at the new offices in Research Park in early June or July and possibly meet at RP B155. Another suggestion was video conferencing or meet at RP once or twice a year.

COBA REMOTE DESKTOP DEMO

Mike Hatch gave a demo of the remote desktop solution mentioned by Chris Stroermer at the last DCSMT meeting. At the moment, only COBA Novell accounts can use the remote desktop. It was suggested by Tim Christian that VMWare images could be used to provide a custom desktop image and could be set to expire at the end of a semester

OLD BUSINESS

No old business was discussed.

NEW BUSINESS

Steve McKay reminded the group that Sun Microsystems will be presenting a Solaris 10 Bootcamp on the UNT campus May 4th, from 9am-3pm at Gateway Center.

AREA REPORTS

Brenda Yu, representing the College of Education for Paul Hons, asked if anyone was interested in attending Novell's Open Enterprise Server training to let Paul know so that we might be able to get a volume discount. Mike Hatch said there is training online and Craig Terrell said he'd check to see if CITC had any training vouchers available. Brenda also asked that if anyone knew of any e-commerce solutions approved for campus use to please let Paul know.

Chris Strauss asked for more volunteers to take his survey in support of his Dissertation research.

Craig Terrell said that Microsoft's granted support to be used for NT server migration help expires soon and if anyone needs migration help to let him know by the end of next week (April 28).

Katy Gallahan was introduced by Scott Jackson as the new UNT Libraries Network Manager.

Tracy Hansen said that Brenda Kirk is now officed at the Research Park, but that she is still in ISB 134 until May 12.

Mike Hatch said that some COBA offices will be moving over the summer to avoid asbestos abatement.

Tim Christian said that Dell has value added software that can report on all machines on campus.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:03 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for May 5, 2006.
