Minutes from June 16, 2006, were approved as written.


Jeff Stewart was introduced as the new Microsoft marketing representative for UNT, replacing Lisa Faia. Craig Robicheaux, Microsoft marketing SE, proceeded with a presentation which covered new features in the Microsoft Office System 2007. The standard version will include Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. The "Plus" version, which replaces the current "Pro" version, adds Access, Publisher, Infopath, and Communicator. The Enterprise version adds the server software associated with the Office System.

Craig also provided an overview of Microsoft Windows Vista, including the basic Hardware requirements, requirements for the "Aero" feature, OS image management features, and the availability timeline for Vista.

Chris Strauss held a drawing for the Best Buy card awarded to one of his survey participants. Nicole Morgan was the winner

Judy Hunter reported that she was testing a Dell 5310 printer and noted that the cost of toner is 7% higher per 100 pages than that for the Dell 5300.

Maurice Leatherbury reported that the CITC has been gathering information on the capabilities of Microsoft Exchange and reexamining Novell Netware for print and file services, but that no plans were in place for replacing Groupwise or Netware any time soon.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:34 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2006.
