Minutes from December 15, 2006, were approved as written.


Patrick Pluscht discussed Horizon Wimba Live Classroom and Voice Tools products and state that the cost will be $10,000 per year (versus other web conferencing software which is $60,000 - $70,000 per year). The Live Classroom demo will be rescheduled due to technical difficulties. Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner promised to send the Horizon Wimba demo URLs to the Netman list. Uwe Rossbach is concerned about security in desktop sharing, cost of cameras in video sharing and recommended that policies need to be in place before execution.


No old business was discussed.


Elizabeth Hinkle-Turner said that both Jaws 8 and Magic 10 had arrived. While Jaws 8 installation went well, Magic 10 installation was not complete. She brought DVDs to the meeting for anyone who needs Jaws 8.

Elizabeth also reminded everyone that today at 2 pm in ISB 201 there will be an open meeting with Dr. Bataille's invited consultants.

Steve Vocelka reminded the group that there will be a Cypress reporting software upgrade this weekend.

It was reported that Micro Maintenance will be evaluating ultra portable notebook computers.


Chris Strauss reported that the Remedy upgrade implementation is progressing, with a number of bugs being discovered and reported to BMC. If someone would like an account on the demonstration server they should send Don McClure an e-mail message and he will set up an account.

Jason Guiterrez will investigate Horizon Wimba Pronto (an instant messaging service). He said iChat may be more useful for Instant Messaging on campus.

Ginger Boone said that Chestnut Hall is open and continuing to be set up.

Mike Hatch introduced Brian Kucharski the new lab manager for COBA.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:22 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for February 2, 2007.
