APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from February 2, 2007, were approved as written.
GROUPWISE DST ISSUES
Jason Myre discussed the affect of the implementation of the earlier daylight savings time on Groupwise calendar appointments. After the time change, appointments may be off by an hour if they were created before the application of the patch supporting the new daylight savings schedule (last November).
IT PANDEMIC PLANNING
Charlotte Russell spoke about the preliminary plan for a UNT closure due to a pandemic/epidemic with essential services in operation. CITC and Financial Business Affairs are both working on a plan. Charlotte Russell will send a message out requesting feedback on the current plan concerning what the DCSMT group considers essential services and will give the information to Maurice Leatherbury. Mike Hatch stated that faculty need access to their desktop. Philip Baczewski responded that services may remain available, but will not be repaired in the event of a failure unless that service is determined to be strategic to University operations during a pandemic. The Matthews Hall router will be considered strategic because it serves the UNT Police, and the Chilton router will be needed for the Health Center. It was mentioned that posting a even a preliminary plan may be very helpful if a pandemic does break out.
February 24 GAB Electrical Outage Update: Steve Vocelka reviewed the power outage scheduled for 12 hrs 7 pm to 7 am on 2/24/07 in GAB 5th floor for scheduled maintenance. Bahram Paiani said that mailhost would be up at an alternate location. Philip Baczewski has written an article for Benchmarks listing services that will be unavailable during the outage. Questions can be directed to CITC Operations or the CITC Helpdesk. Steve stated that the goal is to have a more secure power environment for the GAB.
Remedy ITSM 7 Follow-up: Chris Strauss said that the current timeline is to have Remedy up for training by June 07 and to implement it by July 07. He reminded everyone that the current Remedy system has no patch for daylight savings time.
Microsoft Office 2007/Vista Implementation Issues Followup: Mike Wright said the bookstore will have the Home Premium Edition (of MS Office and Outlook) by April.
Horizon Wimba Live Classroom followup: There are still security questions to be answered about Horizon Wimba Live Classroom service (1/19/2007 DCSMT meeting) which are being addressed by Horizon Wimba. Patrick Pluscht can be contacted for additional information about the Live Classroom service.
No new business was discussed.
Krysta Kaye will be applying patches on the Matthews, Chilton, and Research Park Routers this weekend.
Charlie Brien is looking for surplussed PCs to support electronic communication with custodians, grounds crews, and other workers without offices.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 2, 2007.
