APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes from March 6, 2009, were approved as written.

Minutes from March 27, 2009, were approved as written.

SUPPORT FOR NON-STANDARD HARDWARE

A question arose from one distributed area regarding support of desktop or laptop hardware which differs from the defined vendors and standards and in regard to how standards are set on campus. Distributed managers discussed the difficulties in applying standard software images to non-standard hardware. It was agreed that standards were chosen in order to provide responsive and high-quality support. It was suggested that a statement explaining the reason for hardware standards be published and that DCSMT formally adopt a regular review schedule for hardware standards in conjunction with the most common time of purchase activity within the year. Dan Kidd (CITC MMS) agreed to provide some data to help evaluate what the best schedule for a formal review would be. It was suggested that any review be limited to the top five U.S. suppliers of personal computer hardware.

OLD BUSINESS

Philip Baczewski discussed the responses received regarding interest in training for Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) software. CITC has agreed to fund training for one participant per distributed support area. The consensus among managers was that late July would be the best time to schedule an on-campus training course.

NEW BUSINESS

Larry Talley (CITC MMS/Sharepoint) related that it would not be possible to change the top-level AD OU in support of Sharepoint logins, but said he would e-mail instructions to distributed OU managers to support easier login to Sharepoint.

AREA REPORTS

Shea Rodgers from Business Services introduced himself to the group.

Tim Christian announced that College of Arts and Sciences had positions open in Linux and SCCM support.

Chris Stoermer announced that he was now working with the Student Health and Wellness Center and was no longer with the College of Business.

Mike Hatch announced that College of Business will have two positions available and that Shelly Beattie is the new manager of the COB Labs.

Craig Terrell announced that the charge schedule for CITC backup services was being revised based on new information and that billing would be put off for an additional month.

ADJOURNMENT

The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for May 1, 2009.
