UNIFIED MESSAGING SERVICE CAMPUS ROLLOUT
Joe Adamo (CITC Communications Services) described working with a CITC team for about a year to investigate Microsoft Unified Messaging. Unified Messaging has the ability to record voicemail and deliver it into Microsoft Exchange, allowing receipt of voice mail in the e-mail environment, and on phones and other mobile devices. All CITC voice mail services have been converted to Unified Messaging. UNT Telecomm will be replacing Verizon voice mail with Unified Messaging campus wide over the next year. Jason Myre discussed that he has cross referenced a UNT Telecomm phone data base with Active Directory records in order to prepare for a campus-wide rollout and requested help from the distributed managers to verify that the phone numbers were associated with the correct people. Joe said that the voice mail cost would remain the same initially, but that he anticipated that the cost would be lowered once the conversion was complete and costs had been assessed.
