APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from May 4, 2012, were approved as written.
DELL DESKTOP/LAPTOP MODEL UPDATE
John Forshay of Dell was on hand to discuss changes in Dell's Desktop and Laptop model lines anticipated for June, 2012. Both model lines are expected to use the Intel "Ivy Bridge" chip set. Also discussed was an "all-in-one" model in the 9010 line.
Managers discussed the usage of Ghost for image management. A number of areas reported using Ghost extensively. It has been proposed that Ghost be replaced with management tools such as Microsoft SCCM and OSD. Philip Baczewski asked the DCSMT SCCM group to investigate Ghost alternatives and report back at a later date.
Philip Baczewski provided an update on IT Governance changes for UNT and noted that the DCSMT function would likely be replace with a Technical and Architecture group with similar membership and mission.
In response to a question, no new information was forthcoming regarding the Cloud Storage working group.
No new business was discussed.
No area reports were given.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for June 1, 2012.
