APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from August 3, 2012, were approved as with a minor amendment.
ITIL TRAINING OPPORTUNITY
Eric Jordan and Dan Westin were on hand from New Horizons to discuss training opportunities and their new catalog of courses. New Horizons has developed Online live training as a means to deliver hands on technical training. They have more CISCO classes than ever before. New Horizons provides an ITIL foundation in a 3-day class that they can deliver on site. College of Arts and Sciences Computing Support Services has already contracted for a class. Eric also announced New Horizon's SpecTECHular, a 5th annual client appreciation event coming up September 13th. There is no charge for the event which will feature food and seminars on topics including data center solutions, Windows 8, cloud computing, and MS Office.
PAPERCUT MF IMPLEMENTATION
Philip Baczewski discussed a planned implementation of PaperCut MF as an upgrade to the PaperCut NG product in use in labs and other areas on campus. The MF version will support student printing in some venues other than General Access Computer Labs and will allow for chargeback at locations that offer convenience printing or other services such as scanning or copying. Richard Sanzone is leading the technical implementation and coordination is underway with the GACL's to implement authenticated printing. Eventually, this implementation can support print quotas, wireless printing, and a much wider venue of print output for students than is currently possible in just the labs.
Philip Baczewski relayed that the new Dell standard configurations are being published to UNT's Dell Premier site and that the minitower model had been added as requested by DCSMT members.
No new business was discussed.
No area reports were given.
ADJOURNMENTPhilip Baczewski mentioned that this may or may not be the last DCSMT meeting. DCSMT being replaced by IT Governance Technical Architectural Group, which will have much of the same representation as the current DCSMT. If agenda items are presented, DCSMT will meet on August 17. Quoting from the minutes of the first DCSMT meeting on July 19th, 1996, Philip stated, "DCSMT will be an action team" and noted that the group had done well in that regard.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:10 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for August 17, 2012.
