Support the Emerald Eagle Scholars Endowment
As state funds for universities have declined, shifting the burden of rising tuition costs to students, many families are being priced out of higher education. This is a troubling national trend with large implications for the United States society.
Some 41 percent of students who come from families in the lowest income ranks move up to the highest two rungs of the economic ladder if they get a college degree, according to research from the Pew Economic Mobility Project. But if they don't, only 14 percent advance that far.
You can open doors to deserving students to study at UNT by supporting the Emerald Eagle Scholars program. Your gift will mean the difference between attending college or not. Without a bachelor's degree, many of these above average students would be stuck in dead-end jobs earning low wages with no benefits. By supporting the Emerald Eagles Scholars, you will affirm a cherished American value that no matter their family circumstances, everybody deserves an opportunity to better themselves through education, hard work and merit.
