The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the umbrella organization to the six recognized historically Multicultural and Latino fraternities and sororities at UNT. Though membership in this council is not restricted to students of Multicultural heritage, MGC serves as a multifaceted organization whose purposes include representing Multicultural interest to the University and community, managing and assisting in the expansion of future Multicultural Greek organizations, promotion of the concept of self governance among fraternities and sororities, unification of the Multicultural Greek groups, sponsoring of large scale community service projects, and planning various activities throughout the year with the other Greek umbrella organizations.
Membership in an MGC organization is a life-long commitment. Members of MGC organizations remain active as alumni members and participate in many events nationwide.
Recruitment
The Multicultural Greek Council sponsors an MGC Showcase each fall and spring. This showcase allows students the opportunity to come and learn specific information about each of the six chapters represented in the council. Students are encouraged to ask questions and utilize this week to get acquainted with current members of the organization(s). Representatives from each of the six MGC organizations will be on hand to provide information to anyone interested.
Membership
The Multicultural Greek Council was founded with great significance placed on giving back to the community. The members of the UNT campus are no different. They participate in many service and fund-raising endeavors such as Habitat for Humanity, SPAN, Race for the Cure, American Red Cross, and Youth and Family Services.
