About UNT

The University of North Texas is a student-centered public research university. One of Texas' largest universities, it enrolls more than 36,000 students and is the flagship of the UNT System.

UNT offers 101 master's degree programs and 49 doctoral degree programs, many nationally and internationally recognized.Numerous graduate academic certificates are also available.

The median graduate class size is nine students, allowing students to receive more individual attention. Graduate students comprise 20 percent of UNT's student body, numbering about 7,000.

Graduate classes are offered online and in the evening to accommodate students who work while attending UNT.The university is annually listed among the nation's top 100 universities that award the most master's and doctoral degrees to Hispanics.

Graduate students gain hands-on experience in their field by assisting professors with research or working in one of the university's 60 research and service centers. Internships at corporations, government agencies and other institutions are also widely available.

UNT's library system has been designated a major research library by the U.S. Department of Education. The libraries house 6 million cataloged holdings in various forms. The library system is also a member of the international Center for Research Libraries, giving graduate students access to an additional 4 million items.

UNT offers the most extensive computer resources of any public university in the region. Graduate students have access to 14 computer labs, including one that is open 24 hours a day.

The university has 1,007 full-time faculty members - many widely recognized as experts in their fields.
