STATE OFFICE STAFF
The Texas HIPPY Center serves as the state office for all HIPPY programs in Texas. The Texas HIPPY Center staff provides communities with the opportunity to train and grow parent leaders into educators and is responsible for the training, support, monitoring and expansion of HIPPY programs statewide.
Carla Marie Mowell, State Director
Carla-Marie Weir, is a nationally recognized bilingual trainer who has helped over 50 communities across the nation implement a successful HIPPY program (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) in the last 18 years. In her current capacity as Director of the Texas HIPPY Center at the University of North Texas, she has led the state in implementing the HIPPYCorps Initiative, a statewide evaluation of the HIPPY program and the diffusion of HIPPY throughout Texas. As a volunteer with the National Cancer Society she was involved in the “Entre Amigas” project to encourage Hispanic women to engage in breast self examinations. She is the proud parent of two young daughters.
Keshia Bruno, Program Coordinator
Keshia Bruno has been an integral part of the Texas HIPPY Center team since 2006. Keshia oversees the implementation of our AmeriCorps grant funding and assists AmeriCorps members with professional training and career development. Additionally, Keshia provides training and assistance to HIPPY programs and members.
