- The Maymester Courses do not constitute an additional load for a faculty
member who teaches in the summer. Maymester teaching load is part
of the normal summer teaching load, i.e. if a full load for a faculty
member teaching in the summer is 4 courses and that faculty member teaches
1 course in May, the remaining load for summer is 3 courses. The
faculty member receives payment for Maymester courses during the normal
summer pay periods. The following examples are provided to aid
in your calculation:

1. Faculty
member teaches 1 course in May and no other courses in the summer.
The faculty member would be at 50% FTE in Maymester, and would be paid
50% salary for 6-1-06 through 7-15-06.

2. Faculty
member teaches 1 course in May and 1 course in Summer I. The faculty
member would be at 50% FTE in Maymester and 50% FTE in Summer I, and
would be paid 100% salary for 6-1-06 through 7-15-06.

3. Faculty
member teaches 1 course in May and 2 courses in Summer I. The
faculty member would be at 100% FTE in Summer I, and 50% FTE in Maymester,
and would be paid 100% salary for 6-1-06 through 7-15-06 and 50% salary
for 7-16-06 through 8-31-06.

4. Faculty
member teaches 1 course in May, 2 courses in Summer I, and 1 course
in Summer II. The faculty member would be 100% FTE in Summer I,
50% FTE in Maymester, and 50% FTE in Summer II, and would be paid 100%
salary for 6-1-06 through 7-15-06 and 100% salary for 7-16-06 through
8-31-06.
