The Staff Development/Performance Planning and Review Program provides managers and supervisors a tool to improve morale, decrease turnover, increase efficiency and improve performance of University staff through a systematic process of performance planning, feedback, and review based on evaluation of results achieved against specific, measurable standards.  It is the policy of the University that staff job performance plans and standards are established and followed. A brief outline of the Staff Development process can be found at the Staff Development Outline.   Detailed information can be found in the Staff Development Manual.

PLEASE NOTE:  Effective February 2005, performance that is either above standard or below standard must be documented in writing by the reviewer.  There are two methods of documentation; either is acceptable:
a) Provide a justification statement for all individual scores other than 3 - Met Standards.
b) Describe the employee's overall performance, including documentation of specific areas that are above or below standard, in a memorandum attached to the performance review.
