  Calling Employee Relations
   
  Our primary purpose is to coach you through difficult situations and guide you through the administrative procedures under which the University operates. (565-4817)

The Employee Relations area of Human Resources may be called anytime:
 
  • advice is needed regarding a personnel policy or policy interpretation
  • a staff member has a complain regarding his/her work situation
  • guidance is needed in addressing a staff member's performance or behavior
  • there is a conflict (or potential conflict) situation involving faculty and/or staff
   
  For critical situations, call whenever:
 
  • you wish to take severe disciplinary action with a staff member, such as suspension or termination
  • a faculty or staff member violates the "Workplace Violence" policy
  • a staff member violates a major work rule as outlined in the "Performance Counseling and Discharge" policy
  • you have determined it necessary to call the Police department due to or regarding the behavior or action of a staff member
  • you need advice on handling a faculty or staff member who is in emotional distress
  • you need advice on handling a faculty or staff member who you suspect is abusing alcohol or other drugs
  In conjunction with contacting Employee Relations, you may also utilize other available resources if necessary, such as, other areas of Human Resources, counseling services on campus, the police department, the General Counsel's office, the office of Equity and Diversity. However, you MUST contact Employee Relations if you wish to take severe disciplinary action with a staff member.
